NEW BUSINESS:

 

Councilor Dale Currie – Re: Discussing previous sites, including #6, which is now listed as #1site for the building relocation. 

 

            - need pictures of previous restoration projects

               How it was moved.

               Valemount project information was already presented to Council.

            - DO NOT ask the town for any monies at this time!

D. Currie said that he will not be able to attend the next meeting on Wednesday April 16.

 

Total responsibility for the project lies with our group, once we become a Society. 

 

Frank MacKay is replacing Tom Mulvihill as a member of member of the Board, as Tom asked to have him name rescinded, Tom will remain an enthusiastic charter member.

 

R. Schneider presented Maps of some of the sites the group is looking at; Woodley Drive area, Site east of L&W and the site west of the Forest Training Centre.

 

“We are the Source of Information to link all of our town’s amenities together thru proper channeling in directing local residents and tourists, to discover all that Hinton has to offer.”

 

Best if we can use local people for work on the project.

 

We have original blue prints of the station house, supplied by CN Rail.

 

We have volunteers to start on renos.

 

 

ACTION ITEMS:

 

- Society Fees of $15.00 / member, collecting of these fees has started.

 

- Talk with the citizens directly affected about trees as a buffer, drop off and any other concerns that may arise, members of the group.

 

- develop the pros and cons of all sites, with Number 1 location listed and alternatives listed, outlining why this is the best site, group. 

            Why?  Excellent location, highway, close to original site, railway

 

- Check with Town Council about Centennial plans in 2005, Dale C. & Lorraine

 

- Rescheduled visits to sites due to poor weather conditions which will take place on Wednesday April 16.  Meet at the Chamber office.

 

- Rick Armstrong to contact Ivan Strang and Sheila Copps.

 

- We should also contact MLA Strang as a group.

 

- Roger to contact the Mover (Millet), local movers to be contacted

 

- Meet with Laura Thachuk or Kathy Reese for steps to accessing Municipal grants, (Municipal Sponsorship Programs) – Lorraine & Jeanie

 

- Hinton Chrysler requires 30 day notice on the lease they currently hold on the site east of the Forestry Centre.
