Train Station Preservation Steering Committee

MISSION STATEMENT:

The committee is dedicated to the preservation of the Hinton GTPR Station House.

GOALS:

1 - to prevent the demolition of the station house building

        2 - to preserve historical integrity and promote future use of the station.

        3 - to partner with community groups.

STRATEGIES:

  1  - to acquire the station and land.

            - move onto the land.

        2  - to identify funding needs.

- to pursue funding opportunities with grant application / transfer of existing funds.

            - plan fund raising activities.

        3  - document and promote as Hinton's "oldest" building.

            - restore with guidance from historical resource advisor.

            - encourage use as educational, interpretive centre.

            - speak to community groups to promote the project.
